What this helps you do
Use the sidebar, repository tabs, documentation, and quick actions without losing repository context.
The primary sidebar is always available; repository tabs appear after opening a repository.
Before you start
Navigation is available in every edition. Some destinations show connection or Pro requirements after opening.
Steps
- Use Home, Repositories and Agents in the sidebar. Open Tools for GitHub Inbox, Releases and Indie Log. Documentation and Settings stay available below.
- Repositories open on Overview. Use Changes and History directly; More contains Activity, Insights, GitHub and Release. Expand the repository navigator for branches, tags, stashes and worktrees.
- Use Search or run a command at the top, or press Command K on macOS / Control K elsewhere. Search contextual actions, repositories and views, including aliases such as shell or verify.
Expected result
Generic repository selection opens Overview. Explicit links preserve their destination, and hidden commit composers retain their drafts.
